Adriana's journey into dance began in childhood, but it transformed significantly when she turned 16. While training for a physical test at a gym, she stumbled upon jazz funk classes, igniting her passion for dance. By 17, her love for hip-hop blossomed, especially inspired by the vibrant scene in Barcelona and the cultural significance of hip-hop throughout history. After several years of training and competing with a hip-hop group in Barcelona, Adriana took a bold step and moved to the UK for five years. There, she expanded her repertoire, immersing herself in various hip-hop styles, dancehall, and contemporary fusion, while deepening her appreciation for African rhythms. In 2019, following a hitchhiking adventure in Asia and a previous year living in Australia while training in dancehall and African dance styles, she relocated to Hong Kong. There, she explored experimental and improvisational dance forms, including contact improvisation and authentic movement. Every summer, she returned to Barcelona for workshops with renowned teachers across Europe, further enriching her dance practice. Recognising the profound benefits of dance beyond performance—particularly in emotional healing—Adriana decided in 2022 to merge her interests in psychology and dance. She began her studies in a master’s program in dance and movement psychotherapy, delving into human body studies and various approaches to movement, trauma, and authentic expression, including Bartenieff Fundamentals and Laban movement analysis. In 2024, she traveled to Senegal to study the reflection of nature in the body through the Agony technique and contemporary African approaches, incorporating live drums, voice, and tribal chanting. Today, Adriana continues to explore new movement practices while organizing body-somatic workshops, psychotherapy group sessions, and ecstatic dance events. She believes in the transformative power of movement for emotional well-being, helping individuals navigate trauma and reconnect with their true selves. Adriana envisions a revolution of body and mind in this new era, as we become increasingly conscious of our experiences. Through her work, she empowers individuals to understand and transform the burdens they carry, fostering deeper self-awareness through the vessel of the body.
